Instructor-Led Online Course
Are you an experienced underwriter looking for a refresher on the nuances of FHA loan programs? Or, are you just looking to dive deeper into FHA loans? The Federal Housing Administration continues to evaluate their guidelines and make changes to many of their policies, making underwriting these loans intimidating – even for seasoned underwriters. AllRegs Academy’s Advanced FHA Underwriting can help you expand your knowledge and get you up to speed quickly on FHA loans.
During this course students will enhance their intermediate FHA Underwriting skills while probing into areas typically encountered by the advanced FHA Underwriter. Students will utilize and apply their knowledge of manual underwriting, and scenarios which should be addressed by the underwriter during the credit write-up. This course will consist of hands-on manual underwriting, various special underwriting circumstances and programs, a variety of refinance scenarios and guidance, as well as digging deeper into the complexity of condominium approval, appraisal reviews on condominiums and 2-4 unit properties.
By the end of this course, students will be able to manually underwrite and take appropriate actions based on their credit analysis, understand and execute special underwriting circumstances, fluently underwrite any type of FHA refinance, and understand condominium approvals and complex property appraisals.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn 6 hours of credit towards the Residential Government Underwriter (RGU) certification.

What do you hope your students learn from this course? In every class I teach, I hope my students leave with a thorough knowledge of the subject I'm teaching in addition to knowing what resources are there for them to find the answers to things they might not know or run into later. For FHA, I want them to be able to go into a FHA file and be able to tell if it meets FHA guidelines. For VA, the same thing, want them to know if the loan meets the VA guidelines which are cumbersome to say the least! If it's a collateral analysis class, I hope that I focus on the main issues on the URAR and show them how to determine if the appraisal is a good one.
Hali Plachecki is currently a Senior Underwriter for MGIC and is located in Elk River, MN. Hali has worked in a variety of mortgage lending operations including both retail and wholesale originations. Read Full Bio »
What do you hope your students learn from this course? My hope for the Advanced FHA course is to "add the roof to the house!” The course was designed to bring to the DE Underwriter some difficult issues that may not be a part of everyday underwriting, but with experience we are all somehow magically expected to know. Additional hands on application of principals and mortgage credit analysis will hopefully instill the knowledge, comfort, and confidence to tackle advanced issues that often trickle down to an underwriter! Now, everyone will be in the know!
